Headlight before Silver restoration — oxidised and yellow
The Technique

What is headlight
polymerization?

Polymerization is a specialist chemical restoration process used to treat and protect polycarbonate headlight lenses. Unlike simple polishing, polymerization works at the surface level to rebuild the lens clarity using a chemical bonding process — producing results that are noticeably more durable than a basic polish alone.

The technique was developed alongside automotive specialists in New Zealand and refined specifically for the UK climate and road conditions. We use it as the core restoration method in our Silver package, applied after thorough sanding to remove the damaged outer layer of the headlight lens.

Polymerization is ideal for headlights suffering from oxidation, yellowing, haze, light crazing, or general UV degradation. It restores clarity in a single visit without the need for new parts or a garage appointment — we come to your home or workplace in London.

The Process

How Silver restoration
works — step by step

Every Silver restoration follows the same professional process. Here's exactly what happens when we arrive at your location.

01
Inspection

We examine both headlights in detail to assess the level of oxidation, haze, yellowing, crazing or micro-cracking and confirm the right approach for your specific lenses.

02
Masking

The surrounding paintwork and trim are carefully masked off to protect your car's bodywork during the sanding and chemical stages.

03
Sanding

We progressively sand the headlight lens using multiple grades of wet/dry abrasive paper to remove the degraded outer polycarbonate layer, oxidation, haze and any surface damage.

04
Polymerization

Our specialist polymerization chemical is applied to the prepared lens surface. This chemically bonds to the polycarbonate and restores optical clarity while creating a protective layer.

05
Final Inspection

We inspect the finished result and go over aftercare guidance with you — including our recommendation to apply certain product to maintain the clarity.

What You Need to Know

Longevity, maintenance
& what to expect

The Silver package is our entry-level restoration — delivering a clear, professional result with simple aftercare requirements.

Longevity

Standard longevity is approximately 1 year without any aftercare. With proper maintenance every 6 months, results can last 4 years or more — though the headlights may not look identical to the day of restoration over time.

Maintenance Required

To protect and extend your results, we recommend applying car wax every 6 months. This creates a sacrificial protective layer over the polymerized surface, shielding it from UV and environmental exposure.

Best Suited For

Drivers who want clear headlights at a competitive price and are comfortable with simple 6-monthly aftercare. Also ideal for older vehicles where a long-term investment in higher packages may not be worthwhile.

Mobile Service

We come to you — your home, workplace, or any convenient outdoor location across South, South West & Central London. We require dry weather conditions to work.

Guarantee

If you're not satisfied with the results, we'll refund you in full — no questions asked. There has been one case where crazing was too deep to restore; in that situation we did not charge the customer.

Coverage Area

We serve Wandsworth, Clapham, Brixton, Battersea, Westminster, Kensington, Wimbledon, Croydon, Southwark, Tooting, Balham, Streatham, Hammersmith, Fulham and surrounding South London areas.

⚠️

Important note on sanding and pricing: Sanding is required for every headlight restoration. If your headlights are uniformly yellow, hazy or oxidised, standard pricing applies from £70. However, if your headlights show crazing, micro-cracking, or heavy hard coat damage — where the manufacturer's original coating needs to be fully removed — additional sanding time of 1–2 hours per headlight may be required. This cannot always be determined by sight alone and will be discussed with you transparently before any additional charge is applied.

Silver vs Other Packages

Is Silver the right
package for you?

The Silver package is the best headlight restoration option for drivers who want professional results at the most accessible price point, with straightforward maintenance they can do themselves. Here's how it compares.

  • Don't want to think about maintenance at all
  • Want results that last 3+ years without any effort
  • Have a newer or higher-value car
  • Want up to 10-year film protection (Platinum only)
FAQ

Common questions about
Silver restoration

Polymerization is a chemical process that bonds to the polycarbonate surface of your headlight lens after sanding. It restores optical clarity by chemically treating the exposed plastic, rebuilding the surface layer and creating a degree of UV resistance. It produces clearer, more durable results than basic polish alone.
Without any aftercare, expect around 1 year of maintained clarity. With our recommendation of applying cartain product every 6 months, the results can last 4 years or more — though after several years the headlights may not look exactly as they did on the day of restoration.
We provide specific aftercare guidance after every job, including product recommendations and how to apply it correctly to your headlights. The goal is to create a fresh protective layer over the polymerized surface every 6 months.
Yes — Silver restoration can address crazing and micro-cracking. However, deeper crazing or heavy hard coat damage requires additional sanding time beyond a standard job. If this applies to your headlights, we'll discuss the additional cost with you transparently before proceeding. In cases where the damage is too severe to restore, we will not charge you.
Most Silver restorations take between 45 and 90 minutes for a pair of headlights. This depends on the condition of the lenses. If extra sanding is needed for crazing, it may take slightly longer — we'll let you know upfront.
We cover South, South West and Central London including Wandsworth, Clapham, Brixton, Battersea, Westminster, Kensington, Wimbledon, Croydon, Southwark, Tooting, Balham, Streatham, Hammersmith and Fulham. See our full coverage area.
