What is headlight PPF
and why does it
matter?
PPF — paint protection film — is a clear, self-healing thermoplastic urethane film originally developed for the aerospace industry. When applied to headlights, it acts as an invisible permanent shield that physically blocks UV rays, road debris, minor stone chips, environmental contamination and the oxidation process that causes headlights to yellow and haze over time.
Unlike ceramic coating, which is a chemical layer bonded to the surface, PPF is a physical film — typically 6–8 mil thick — that sits on top of the headlight lens. This means it provides a significantly higher level of physical protection against impact and scratching, in addition to UV resistance.
The key advantage of PPF on headlights is what happens after 10 years: rather than needing to restore the headlights again, you simply replace the film. The headlight surface underneath remains in the same condition as the day we applied the film — protected and clear. This makes Platinum the only truly set-and-forget option for headlight care.

step by step
The Platinum process combines all steps of the Gold machine polishing restoration with a professional headlight PPF installation immediately after — all in a single visit.
We assess the headlights for oxidation, yellowing, haze, crazing and micro-cracking. We also check the lens surface is suitable for PPF adhesion.
Surrounding paintwork and trim are carefully masked before any sanding or machine polishing begins.
Progressive wet sanding removes the degraded outer polycarbonate layer, oxidation, haze and surface damage.
Machine heavy cut compound buffing removes deeper sanding marks and oxidation, preparing the lens for finer stages.
Machine compound buffing refines the surface to remove lighter marks left from the heavy cut stage.
A fine machine polish brings out full optical clarity, removing remaining micro-scratches for a crystal-clear surface ready for film.
The pre-cut headlight PPF is installed using professional slip solution, squeegeed into position and edge-sealed.

After 10 years, simply have the film removed and replaced with new film. No restoration needed — the headlight surface underneath will still be in perfect condition.
We offer mobile headlight PPF installation at your home or workplace across South, South West & Central London. For the best results, PPF should be installed in a dust‑free, shaded environment. If you have a driveway that is not in direct sunlight and not under trees, mobile installation is usually suitable. If your location isn’t ideal, we can arrange installation at one of our trusted partner garages in Croydon, Wimbledon or Marylebone.
Restoration and PPF installation are completed in a single visit when conditions allow. Total time is typically 2–3 hours for a pair of headlights, depending on condition and film installation. If a garage environment is required, we’ll book you into the nearest available location.
If you're not satisfied with the result, we'll refund you in full. In the rare case that damage is too severe to restore, we will not charge you.
Note on sanding and pricing: All Platinum restorations include sanding as a required step before machine polishing. Standard pricing from £200 applies for typical oxidation, yellowing and haze. Where headlights show crazing, micro-cracking, or heavy hard coat damage, additional sanding time of 1–2 hours may be needed — this will be discussed with you transparently before any extra charge is applied.
