Headlight restoration around the Championships, the Common and Wimbledon Village
Wimbledon has its own rhythm — for most of the year it's a mix of Wimbledon Village's cobbled streets and larger houses, busier flats near the station, and cars parked along the roads bordering Wimbledon Common. Then for two weeks every summer, the Championships bring resident parking suspensions and extra traffic around the All England Club, which is worth knowing about if you're booking during that window.
Outside Championships fortnight, it's business as usual — we come to wherever you're parked across SW19. Prices start from £70 for our Silver package; try our price calculator for an instant quote, or browse before & after photos from recent jobs.
We plan around Championships fortnight
Late June and early July bring parking suspensions near the All England Club, which we factor into any bookings around that time.
MOT-ready results
Restored headlights improve light output and help reduce the risk of MOT advisories caused by faded or degraded lenses.
Suited to Common-side parking
Our ceramic and PPF options hold up well for cars regularly left near Wimbledon Common for hours at a time.
One flat SW19 rate
Wimbledon Village, the town centre or towards Wimbledon Park — same rate, no travel fee.
Why Wimbledon headlights oxidise the way they do
Away from Championships fortnight, it's the same story as anywhere else — UV exposure and time spent parked outdoors. What makes Wimbledon a bit different is how much that outdoor time varies by street: cars near the station and town centre deal with more traffic film, while those left near the Common for a walk or a round of golf pick up their own wear over longer stretches. Either way, it adds up to headlights that often look more oxidised than the car's mileage would suggest.
What happens during a Wimbledon visit
- Inspect & clean the lens We check the condition of your headlights first, then clean off surface dirt and debris so we can see exactly how much sanding is needed.
- Sand down the oxidised layer The longest and most important step: progressively finer sanding grades remove oxidation, yellowing, haziness and micro-scratches. The final clarity depends on how thoroughly and evenly this is done.
-
Choose your restoration method (based on your
package)
After sanding, the final stage depends on the
package you select:
Silver — Polymerization: a chemical vaporisation process that restores clarity and gives excellent results, but needs oxygen to fully cure, so ceramic coating or PPF can only be added on a separate visit once the polymerisation layer has cured.Gold — Machine polishing + ceramic coating: we machine-polish to a clear, glass-like finish, then apply a UV & UVB ceramic coating for around 3 years of maintenance-free clarity — worth it for a car left near the Common for hours at a time, and you can simply top up the coating later rather than restoring from scratch.Platinum — Machine polishing + PPF installation: we machine-polish, then apply a high-quality paint protection film for 5–10 years of maintenance-free protection against UV, scratches and weathering, depending on the film brand.

Frequently asked questions

If you're booking around that time, mention it and we'll either plan around the closures or agree a spot a little further from the club.
Yes, that's a regular part of our SW19 coverage. Just let us know the nearest road when you book.
Prices for our Wimbledon mobile headlight restoration service start from £70 for Silver, £100 for Gold, and £200 for Platinum, depending on your car model and how badly oxidised the lenses are. Use our price calculator for an instant, accurate quote.
A typical restoration visit takes between 45 and 90 minutes per car, depending on the condition of your headlights. If you choose to add protection — ceramic coating or PPF — please allow an additional hour for the application.
Silver lasts around 1 year without aftercare, or 3+ years with car wax every 6 months. Gold's ceramic coating lasts approximately 3 years with no maintenance. Platinum's PPF film carries a 10-year guarantee.
Cloudy or yellowed headlights can reduce light output enough to trigger an MOT advisory or failure. Restoring them improves clarity and light output, helping you avoid that issue.
