Headlight restoration completed on a mobile visit near Wandsworth

Headlight restoration for Wandsworth's older terraces and newer riverside blocks

Wandsworth is a genuine mix — Victorian terraced streets around Wandsworth Common and West Hill where cars park on-street year-round, and newer riverside developments near Wandsworth Town with underground or allocated parking. On top of that, the South Circular (A205) and the Wandsworth gyratory push a lot of traffic straight through the town centre, which adds extra grime to anything parked nearby.

Because parking setups here vary more than most areas — from a permit bay on a terraced street to a basement car park under a new-build — we always confirm the access details with you before the visit. Prices start from £70 for our Silver package; try our price calculator for an instant quote, or browse before & after photos from recent jobs.

Works with underground parking

Riverside development car park or on-street terrace bay — we check what suits each job rather than assuming a driveway.

We avoid the gyratory

Town centre bookings are arranged around a quieter side street, not directly on York Road or the one-way system.

Built for South Circular traffic

Our ceramic and PPF options are well suited to the road grime a busy A205 corridor tends to leave behind.

Why Wandsworth headlights oxidise faster than you'd expect

The South Circular and the gyratory around Wandsworth town centre carry a lot of through-traffic for a residential area, and that means more road film and pollution settling on anything parked nearby — whether that's a terraced street off West Hill or a space near Southside. Add in the number of cars that simply live outside on Wandsworth's older streets rather than in the newer developments' car parks, and it's easy for headlights to look considerably more oxidised than the car's actual mileage would suggest.

What happens during a Wandsworth visit

  1. Inspect & clean the lens We check the condition of your headlights first — worth doing properly here, since cars near the gyratory or South Circular tend to carry more traffic grime than usual. This tells us where heavier or lighter sanding is needed, before we clean off surface dirt and debris.
  2. Sand down the oxidised layer The longest and most important step: progressively finer sanding grades remove oxidation, yellowing, haziness and micro-scratches. The final clarity depends on how thoroughly and evenly this is done.
  3. Choose your restoration method (based on your package) After sanding, the final stage depends on the package you select:
Silver — Polymerization: a chemical vaporisation process that restores clarity and gives excellent results, but needs oxygen to fully cure, so ceramic coating or PPF can only be added on a separate visit once the polymerisation layer has cured.
Gold — Machine polishing + ceramic coating: we machine-polish to a clear, glass-like finish, then apply a UV & UVB ceramic coating for around 3 years of maintenance-free clarity — worth it if your car regularly sits near the South Circular or town centre traffic, and you can simply top up the coating later rather than restoring from scratch.
Platinum — Machine polishing + PPF installation: we machine-polish, then apply a high-quality paint protection film for 5–10 years of maintenance-free protection against UV, scratches and weathering, depending on the film brand.

Frequently asked questions

Usually, yes, as long as there's reasonable ventilation and enough space to move around the car safely. Some underground car parks are too tight or enclosed for the sanding and polishing equipment, so let us know when booking and we'll confirm whether your specific car park works, or agree a nearby street-level spot instead.

It can. We avoid working directly on the gyratory or York Road itself and instead meet on a quieter side street off West Hill or Fairfield Street. If you're near the town centre, mention it when booking and we'll sort the best spot in advance.

Prices for our Wandsworth mobile headlight restoration service start from £70 for Silver, £100 for Gold, and £200 for Platinum, depending on your car model and how badly oxidised the lenses are. Use our price calculator for an instant, accurate quote.

A typical restoration visit takes between 45 and 90 minutes per car, depending on the condition of your headlights. If you choose to add protection — ceramic coating or PPF — please allow an additional hour for the application.

Silver lasts around 1 year without aftercare, or 3+ years with car wax every 6 months. Gold's ceramic coating lasts approximately 3 years with no maintenance. Platinum's PPF film carries a 10-year guarantee.

Cloudy or yellowed headlights can reduce light output enough to trigger an MOT advisory or failure. Restoring them improves clarity and light output, helping you avoid that issue.

No — we specialise in external headlight restoration and polishing only. We don't offer condensation removal, cracked lens repair or internal headlight work.
